Studying abroad alone changed my life.

Studying abroad alone was a decision that I made to push my boundaries and discover more about myself. As anyone might be, I was nervous to take this journey alone, but the excitement was overwhelming, and left as soon as I stepped foot in my new home of Sevilla, Spain. Through this experience, I discovered a profound sense of confidence within myself. The journey wasn't just about exploring a foreign land; it was a journey into the depths of my own capabilities.

Loneliness was an inevitable part of studying abroad alone, but it became an opportunity for self-reflection. I learned to love my own company, finding that some of my favorite memories came from my solo trips, journaling, and wandering the city's (windy and easy to get lost in) streets. I was also able to take a trip alone with an external travel group to the Sahara Desert. Through this trip, I met some of my closest friends while abroad, and we ended up traveling together throughout the semester.

Studying abroad alone gave me a passion for travel and cultural immersion. I realized my love for connecting with authentic cultures, embracing diversity, and exploring the world with an open heart and an open mind.
